Description
The pancreas is an elongated, tapered organ located across the back of the belly, behind the stomach. It plays a crucial role in digestion by producing enzymes that help to break down the food. The beta cell is one of four major types of cells that make up the mammalian pancreatic islet. The β-cell secretes the hormone insulin, in response to nutrients, hormones and neuronal stimuli, and therefore plays a primary role in the maintenance of glucose homeostasis.
Rat Islet Beta Cells from Creative Bioarray are isolated from the rat pancreatic tissue. The method we use to isolate Rat Islet Beta Cells was developed based on a combination of established and our proprietary methods. The Rat Islet Beta Cells are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibodies specific to insulin. Each vial contains 0.5x10^6 cells per ml and is delivered frozen.
