Beta Cell Differentiation Service from iPSC
IPSC-derived beta cells are a promising renewable cell source for diabetes cell therapy. Creative Bioarray can differentiate healthy or diseased induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into beta cells, and deliver high-quality iPSC-derived beta cells in around 1 month. Creative Bioarray works with client-provided control or genetically engineered iPSC lines to differentiate into beta cells and provides a continuous cell supply for each individual project. We also have a collection of well-characterized iPSC control lines for you to use if you do not have your own control line. We could also genetically modify your iPSC line prior to the differentiation process as well as assist in assay development after your iPSC-derived cells have undergone standard characterization testing. If you would like to learn more, contact us today to schedule your free consultation.
Beta Cell Differentiation Service Workflow:
- Thawing of your iPS cells and adaptation to the culture system
- Expansion of the cells and generation of a seed bank
- Differentiation into definitive endoderm cells
- Differentiation into beta cells and cell banking
- Characterization of the banked, final cell products (QC testing included)
QC Testing of Beta Cells
- Visual inspection of beta cell morphology
- Viability testing
- Flow cytometry to verify the presence of >20% insulin-positive cells post thaw
- Sterility testing (including Mycoplasma)
For safety and QC purposes, we only accept human samples that are free of human pathogens and that have passed a sterility test. We require documentation proving that all samples shipped to us are sterile and pathogen-free. Please note that safety and sterility testing will incur additional lead time and costs.
