Description
The Immortalized Human Lymphoblastoid Cells- EBV (KMS-9) was derived from peripheral human blood lymphocytes, with minimal genetic and phenotypic alterations compared to the parental lymphocytes. Being an actively proliferating B cell population, these cells provide a constant supply of starting materials suitable for various assays and in vitro model system for the study of human B cells.
The KMS-9 cells express HLA-DR on its surface. It also exhibit slight expression of the CD19 B cell marker, but on the other hand, it is negative for CD20. Another lyphoblastoid cell line, KMS-15, in contrast, expresses both CD19B and CD20 cell marker.
