Description
This cell line is a ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma derived by differential trypsinisation of explant cultures from a metastatic lesion in the liver of a 26 year old caucasian male with cystic fibrosis (CF). The cell line expresses cystic fibrosis trans-membrane regulator (CFTR) and ion transport properties consistent with the CF defect. The cells express the CF gene and show the most common CF mutation, deletion of three nucleotides result in a phenylalanine-508 deletion. CFPAC-1 cells are also tumorigenic in nude mice.
