ActoFactor™ Recombinant Rat Resistin
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0867
Description
Resistin, a product of the RSTN gene, is a peptide hormone belonging to the class of cysteine- rich secreted proteins which is termed the RELM family, and is also described as ADSF (Adipose Tissue-Specific Secretory Factor) and FIZZ3 (Found in Inflammatory Zone). Human resistin contains 114 amino acids as a prepeptide, and its hydrophobic N-terminal 20 amino acid signal peptide is cleaved before its secretion. Resistin circulates in human blood as a dimeric protein consisting of two 94 amino acid polypeptides, which are disulfide-linked via Cys26. Resistin may be an important link between obesity and insulin resistance. Mouse resistin, specifically produced and secreted by adipocyte, acts on skeletal muscle myocytes, hepatocytes and adipocytes themselves so that it reduces their sensitivity to insulin. Studies have shown that mouse resistin increases during the differentiation of adipocytes, but it also seems to inhibit adipogenesis. In contrast, the human adipogenic differentiation is likely to be associated with a down regulation of resistin gene expression. Recombinant rat Resistin is expressed with an N-terminal His-tag fusion and has a molecular weight of 11.9 kDa containing 94 amino acid residues of the rat Resistin and 16 additional amino acid residues including the His-tag.

Formulation
Sterile-filtered and lyophilized from a 0.5 mg/ml solution in 20 mM Tris (pH 8.0).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. For reconstitution, add 0.2 ml of deionized water and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. This solution can then be stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. It should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
