ActoFactor™ Recombinant Mouse Defensin beta 2
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0733
Description
Defensins are cationic peptides with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity that comprise an important arm of the innate immune system. To date, four human beta-defensins have been identified: BD-1, BD-2, BD-3 and BD-4. Beta-defensins are expressed on leukocytes and at epithelial surfaces and are 3-5 kDa peptides consisting of 33-47 amino acid residues. Human BD- 1 is down-regulated in human prostatic and renal carcinomas. Skin of patients having atopic dermatitis and mycosis fungoides (non-lesional and lesional) show lower human BD-1 mRNA expression and higher human BD-2 and BD-3 mRNA expression. The level of expression of human BD-1 mRNA is also lower than that of human BD3 and human BD-2 in reconstructed epidermis. Creative Bioarrays recombinant human beta-Defensin-2 (rHu BD-2) produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 51 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 5.5 kDa. It has been purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Species

Product Overview
Mouse Defb2 expressed in E.coli
Molecular Mass
5.5 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0733-20 (20 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0733-100 (100 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 98% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis.
Activity
Determined by the ability to chemoattract immature human dendritic cells at a concentration of 10-100 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a sterile-filtered (0.2 μm) concentrated protein solution in PBS (pH 7.4).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized BD-2, though stable at room temperature, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted BD-2 should be stored in working aliquots at -20°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
