Description
Recombinant Human Vascular Endothelial Cell Growth Factor121 (rHu VEGF-121) is a 28.4 kDa homodimeric protein consisting of two non-glycosylated 121 amino acid polypeptide chains. VEGF-121 is a secreted homodimeric protein secreted by a variety of vascularized tissues. The reported activities of VEGF-121 include stimulation of endothelial cell growth, angiogenesis, and capillary permiability. VEGF-121 does not bind on heparin.

Activity
The ED50 as determined by (3H)-thymidine incorporation into human umbilical vein endothelial (HUVE) cells and stimulation of cell proliferation was found to be at a concentration of 0.2-0.4 ng/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 2.5 - 5 x 10^6 units/mg.

Formulation
Lyophilized from a concentrated protein solution (1 mg/ml) with no additives.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted with distilled, sterile water to a concentration not lower than 50 μg/ml. For further dilution, carrier protein (0.1% BSA or HSA) should be added to avoid loss of bioactivity.
Storage & Stability
Lyophilized cytokine is stable as shipped for at least 1 year at 20°C to 70°C. Reconstituted protein should be stored in working aliquots at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
