ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Resistin-like Molecule beta
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0506
Description
RELM-beta is a member of a recently identified family of secreted proteins containing a conserved cystein-rich C-terminus. The RELM family consists of resistin (also called FIZZ3), RELM-alpha (FIZZ1), RELM-beta (FIZZ2) and RELM-gamma. While all four RELM family members were identified in rodents, only resisistin and RELM-beta were found in humans. RELM-beta appears to be produced as a homodimer exclusively by intestinal goblet cells and can be found in high quantities in stool. Remarkably, stool of germ-free mice displaying a sterile intestinal tract does not contain RELM-beta until bacterial colonization starts after pathogen-free mice have entered the natural environment. Some, but not all, colon carcinoma cell lines secrete RELM-beta into the cell culture supernatant. The physiological function of RELM-beta is not known. High doses of recombinant RELM-beta showed hyperglycemic effects including lowered glucose disposal and increased hepatic glucose production in mice. Recombinant human RELM- beta is a His-tagged fusion protein of 11 kDa protein containing 90 amino acid residues of the human RELM-beta and 12 additional amino acid residues including the 6xHis-tag.

Formulation
Sterile-filtered, white, lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. Sterile-filtered and lyophilized from 0.5 mg/ml solution in 0.05 M acetate buffer (pH 4).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. For reconstitution, add 0.2 ml of 0.1 M acetate buffer (pH 4) and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. For conversion into a higher pH value, we recommend intensive dilution by the relevant buffer to a concentration of 10 μg/ml. In higher concentrations the solubility of this antigen is limited. This solution can then be stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rRELM beta should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
