ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Periostin, osteoblast specific factor
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0106
Description
Periostin (OSF-2) is a disulfide linked 90 kDa, 811 amino acid protein originally isolated as an osteoblast-specific factor that functions as a cell adhesion molecule for preosteoblasts. It is thought to be involved in osteoblast recruitment, attachment and spreading. Additionally, periostin expression has previously been shown to be significantly increased by both transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-beta1) and bone morphogenetic protein (BMP-2). The Human OSF-2 His-tagged fusion protein is produced in E. coli. The 75 kDa protein contains 648 amino acid residues of the human OSF-2 and 23 additional amino acid residues (-His-tag, Xa-cleavage site).

Formulation
Sterile-filtered, white, lyophilized (freeze-dried)powder. Sterile-filtered and lyophilized from a 0.5 mg/ml solution (0.05 M Acetate buffer, pH 4).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. For reconstitution, add 0.2 ml of 0.1 M acetate buffer (pH 4) and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. For conversion into a higher pH value, we recommend intensive dilution with the relevant buffer to a concentration of 10 μg/ml. In higher concentrations the solubility of this antigen is limited. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu Periostin should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze- thaw cycles.
