ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Oncostatin M (HEK)
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0419
Description
Oncostatin M is a growth and differentiation factor and a member of a cytokine family that includes leukemia-inhibitory factor (LIF), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), and interleukin 6 (IL-6). This gene encodes a growth regulator which inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells. Oncostatin M participates in the regulation of neurogenesis, osteogenesis and hematopoiesis. Oncostatin M can exert both stimulatory and inhibitory effects on cell proliferation. It stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells and Kaposis sarcoma cells, but inhibits the growth of some normal and tumor cell lines. It also promotes cytokine release (e.g. IL-6, GM-CSF and G-CSF) from endothelial cells, and enhances the expression of low-density lipoprotein receptor in hepatoma cells. Recombinant Human Oncostatin M is active on murine cells. Human recombinant Oncostatin M produced in HEK cells is a glycosylated monomer with a total molecular weight of 30 kDa. It has been purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human OSM expressed in HEK cells
Molecular Mass
30.0 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0419-10 (10 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0419-50 (50 μg)
Expression System
HEK cells
Purity
Greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
Activity
Recombinant human Oncostatin M is fully biologically active when compared to a standard. The specific activity was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells (human erythroleukemic indicator cell line) and is typically 2-10 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
Sterile-filtered, white, lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. Lyophilized from a concentrated protein solution (1 mg/ml) in 1xPBS.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product before briefly opening vial. The lyophilized Oncostatin M should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted Oncostatin M should be used immediately or stored long-term in working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
