ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Neuroglobin
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0131
Description
Neuroglobin, a 17 kDa protein with 151 amino acid residues mainly expressed in vertebrate brain and retina, is a recently identified member of the globin superfamily. Augmenting O (2) supply, neuroglobin promotes survival of neurons upon hypoxic injury, potentially limiting brain damage. Moreover, neuroglobin may be a novel oxidative stress-responsive sensor for signal transduction in the brain. Neuroglobin expression is increased by neuronal hypoxia in vitro and focal cerebral ischemia in vivo, and neuronal survival after hypoxia is reduced by inhibiting neuroglobin expression with an antisense oligodeoxynucleotide and enhanced by neuroglobin overexpression.

Formulation
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. Sterile-filteredand lyophilized from a 0.5 mg/ml solution in 0.05 M phosphate buffer, 0.1 M NaCl, pH 7.2.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. For reconstitution, add 0.2 ml of dH2O and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. This solution can then be stored at - 20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu Neuroglobin should be used immediately or stored long- term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
