ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Myostatin (E. coli)
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0467
Description
Recombinant Human Myostatin (rHu Myostatin) is a TGF-beta family member that acts as an inhibitor of skeletal muscle growth. This muscle-specific cytokine interacts with Activin type I and type II receptors, and suppresses myoblast proliferation by arresting cell-cycle in the G1 phase. Myostatin activity can be blocked by the Activin-binding protein Follistatin, and by the propeptide of Myostatin. Recombinant Human Myostatin is a 25.0 kDa protein consisting of two identical 109 amino acid polypeptides linked by a single disulfide bond.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human MSTN expressed in E.coli
Molecular Mass
25.0 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0467-10 (10 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0467-50 (50 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE, FPLC and HPLC analysis.
Activity
The biological activity of Myostatin was determined by its ability to inhibit the proliferation of MPC-11 cells. The ED50 for this effect is < 20.0 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
The sterile-filtered protein solution was lyophilized with no additives.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile 20 mM HCl to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted Myostatin should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage, it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
