ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Growth hormone 1 (Plant)

  • Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0544
Description
GH is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. The gene, along with four other related genes, is located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17 where they are interspersed in the same transcriptional orientation; an arrangement which is thought to have evolved by a series of gene duplications. The five genes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity. Alternative splicing generates additional isoforms of each of the five growth hormones, leading to further diversity and potential for specialization. This particular family member is expressed in the pituitary but not in placental tissue as is the case for the other four genes in the growth hormone locus. Recombinant GH has been produced by transient expression of GH in non-transgenic plant. It is a protein consisting of 205 amino residues with a molecular weight of 22.9 kDa containing a 6xHis tag on the N-terminus. Recombinant GH has been purified by sequential chromatography (FPLC) and does not contain animal–derived components or impurities.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human GH1 expressed in Nicotiana benthamiana
Molecular Mass
22.9 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0544-10 (10 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0544-50 (50 μg)
Expression System
Nicotiana benthamiana
Purity
Greater than 97% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
Activity
The biological activity of human Growth Hormone is measured by cell proliferation using Nb2-11 cells. The ED50 was found to be ≤0.04-0.1 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 0.04 EU/μg.
Formulation
Recombinant human GH is lyophilized from 0.05 M PBS buffer (pH 7.5).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 50 μg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted protein should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage, it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
