Description
Recombinant Human basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (rHu bFGF) is a heparin binding growth factor, which stimulates the proliferation of a wide variety of cells including mesenchymal, neuroectodermal and endothelial cells. rHu bFGF also exerts a potent angiogenic activity in vivo. Recombinant human bFGF produced in HEK cells is a non-glycosylated monomer, having a total molecular weight of 17 kDa. It has been purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Activity
rHu FGF-2 is fully biologically active when compared to a standard. The specific activity was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of the 3T3 cell line and is typically 0.1- 0.5 ng/ml.

Formulation
Sterile-filtered, white, lyophilized (freeze-dried)powder. Lyophilized from a concentrated protein solution (1 mg/ml) in 1xPBS.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu bFGF should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long term storage, carrier protein should be added to avoid loss of bioactivity (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
