ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Fibroblast growth factor 2 (basic) (E. coli)
- Specification
- Publications
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0134
Description
Recombinant Human basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (rHu bFGF) is a heparin binding growth factor, which stimulates the proliferation of a wide variety of cells including mesenchymal, neuroectodermal and endothelial cells. rHu bFGF also exerts a potent angiogenic activity in vivo. Human bFGF is a 16.5 kDa protein containing 153 amino acid residues.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human FGF2 expressed in E.coli
Molecular Mass
16.5 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0134-50 (50 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0134-250 (250 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 98% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
Activity
The ED50, as determined by the stimulation of cell proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) by FGF-2, is in the range of 0.1-2.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 5 x 10? to 1.0 x 10^7 units/mg (IU/mg). The measured biological activity was identical with reference standards which showed an ED50 ≤0.1 ng/ml (corresponding to a specific activity of Greater than 1.0 x 10^7 units/mg and determined by the stimulation of 3H-thymidine incorporation in BALB/c 3T3 cells).
Endotoxin Level
N/A
Formulation
Lyophilized from a sterile-filtered protein solution in PBS with no additives.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1 - 1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu bFGF should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long term storage, carrier protein should be added to avoid loss of bioactivity (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
