ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Fibroblast growth factor 2 (basic) (146 aa variant; plant)
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0136
Description
Fibroblast growth factor basic (FGF-basic, FGF-2) is a member of the FGF family of 23 related mitogenic proteins. It is a heparin binding growth factor expressed in the brain, pituitary, kidney, retina, bone, testis, adrenal gland, liver, placenta, and monocytes, epithelial and endothelial cells (different isoform exists with tissue and cellular localization specificity). FGF-basic plays a central role during prenatal development and postnatal growth and regeneration of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF-basic is one of the angiogenesis factors and may promote wound healing. It shows considerable species cross-reactivity as the other members of the FGF family. Recombinant human FGF-basic produced in plant contains 146 amino acids and a 10 a.a. histidine-based tag for a total length of 156 a.a., and has a predicted molecular mass of 17.8 kDa including the His-tag. Produced in the endosperm tissue of barley grain (Hordeum vulgare), that exhibits up to 50 times less protease activity than E. coli or mammalian cells. Barley seed is void of any human or animal viral contaminants that could jeopardize your cell culture.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human FGF2 expressed in Endosperm tissue of barley grain (Hordeum vulgare)
Molecular Mass
17.8 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0136-50 (50 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0136-250 (250 μg)
Expression System
Endosperm tissue of barley grain (Hordeum vulgare)
Purity
Greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
Activity
Each batch is tested for bioactivity and verified to have comparable activity to a commercial source. Bioactivity of recombinant human FGF-2 is assayed by measuring its dose-dependent effect on proliferation of 3T3 cells. The ED50 for this effect using FGF-2 is typically 2.5 x 10^6 units/mg. Optimal concentration should be determined for specific applications and cell lines.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 0.05 EU/μg.
Formulation
Sterile filtered and lyophilized from PBS (pH 7.2).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge the vial before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile water to a concentration of no less than 100 μg/ml. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted protein should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
