ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0483
Description
Recombinant Human Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (rHu BDNF) is a potent neurotrophic factor that supports the growth and survivability of nerve and/or glial cells. The active form of human BDNF is a 27.0 kDa dimer, formed by two identical 119 amino acid subunits that is held together by strong hydrophobic interactions.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human BDNF expressed in E.coli
Molecular Mass
27.0 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0483-10 (10 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0483-50 (50 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 97% as determined by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC analysis.
Activity
The ED50, as determined by the dose-dependent induction of ACHE (acetylcholine esterase) activity in rat basal forebrain primary septal cultures, was found to be 50 ng/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 20,000 units/mg.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a sterile-filtered protein solution with no additives.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge briefly before opening the vial. The lyophilized human BDNF should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1 - 1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into water or other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted human BDNF should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage, it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
