ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (E. coli)
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0529
Description
Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 (BMP-2) is a disulfide-bonded homo-dimeric protein with an apparent molecular weight of 26 kDa. BMP-4 regulates similarly to its nearest homologue BMP-2, diverse fundamental processes during embryonic development. BMP-4 and other BMP proteins are members of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily of proteins and have great potential for medical therapeutic applications, in particular because they allow or at least accelerate the ossification of extensive bone lesions. Recombinant human BMP-4 produced in E. coli is a monomeric, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain of 116 amino acids and a molecular mass of 13,009 Dalton.

Formulation
Sterile-filtered, white, lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. Lyophilized from a sterile-filtered, concentrated protein solution (1 mg/ml) in 30% acetonitrile and 0.1% TFA.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. The lyophilized protein can be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1 - 1.0 mg/ml (for highly concentrated dilutions we recommend reconstitution in sterile 100 mM acetic acid). This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu BMP-4 should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Applications Can be used as a molecular standard (Western, ELISA) for studying secreted BMP-4, for preparing antibodies for the BMP-4 monomer and as molecule standard for the detection of secreted BMP-4 in reduced SDS-PAGE.
