ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Bone morphogenetic protein 2 (E. coli)
- Specification
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0524
Description
Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 (BMP-2) is a disulfide-bonded homo-dimeric protein with an apparent molecular weight of 26 kDa. BMP-2 regulates similarly to its nearest homologue BMP-4, diverse fundamental processes during embryonic development. BMP-2 and other BMP proteins have great potential for medical therapeutic applications, in particular because they allow or at least accelerate the ossification of extensive bone lesions.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human BMP2 expressed in E.coli
Molecular Mass
26 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0524-10 (10 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0524-50 (50 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC analysis.
Activity
The ED50, as determined by ist ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 cells, is 0.5-1.0 μg/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
BMP-2 was lyophilized from a concentrated (1 mg/ml), sterile solution containing 10 mM sodium citrate (pH 3.5).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile 20 mM acetic acid to a concentration of 0.1 - 1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu BMP-2 should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
