Recombinant CYP450 enzyme subtypes expressed by bacteria, insects, or mammalian cells can be used to study individual CYP metabolic phenotype of drug candidates. Inhibitory effect of drug candidates on individual CYP subtypes, namely CYP1A2, CYP2A6, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP2E1 and CYP3A4, can be investigated by measuring IC50 using selective probe substrates.
