Description
During preganancy the myometrium undergoes hypertrophy and hyperplasia. The established Immortalized (Conditionally) Mouse Smooth Muscle/Myometrial-Like Cells (SMU1-10) is recommended for use as an in vitro model of smooth muscle/myometrial differention and for steroid hormone gene regulation studies. It proliferates at a permissive temperature of 33°C and exhibits smooth-muscle related markers such as the SM-MHC, SM22 alpha, and connexin 43. Thromboxane A2 receptors and progesterone receptors are also present. The SMU1-10 cells expresses smooth muscle gamma-actin (SMGA) which is a maker for smooth muscle differentiation. This cell line is recommended for studies and analysis in smooth muscle/myometrial differentiation, maturation, and the role of steroid hormones in gene regulation.
