Description
The olfactory bulb is located within the vertebrate forebrain, in which it functions to receive nerve endings/input from the nasal cavity. The sense of smell is associated with the nerve tissues of the olfactory bulb.Immortalized Mouse Olfactory Bulb Cells (OBL21) is immortalized with non-replicating retrovirus carrying the avian Myc gene. These cells are multipotent and were selected for in the presence of G418. They express neuronal markers such as neurofilament (NF), tetanus toxin (TT), and A2B5, and have the presence of sodium channels. OBL21 cells are non-tumorigenic and have similar morphology to the primary cells. It is a valuablein vitrotool for studies relating to the functions and the biology of the olfactory bulb.
