Induced Damage Models
Scopolamine induced amnesia is one of the most common AD-related model targeting cholinergic neurons, which is often used to explore the role of cholinergic in dementia and to screen drugs for AD. In addition, there are other substances that cause similar pathological phenotypes of AD, including okadaic acid for tau phosphorylation, endotoxins for brain inflammation, sodium azide for mitochondrial dysfunction and heavy metal for inducing reactive oxygen species.

Induced damage models include but not limited to:
- Scopolamine induced model
- Streptozocin (STZ) induced model
- Ibotenic acid (IBO) induced model
- Aβ induced model
- Okadaic acid induced model
- Colchicine induced model
- Heavy metal induced model
- NaN3 induced model
- D-gal combined with ibotenic acid induced model
- D-gal combined with AlCl3 induced model
- D-gal combined with Aβ induced model
