This FISH Probe is designed to detect CDKN2A gene, which is located on the 9p21.3 locus on chromosome 9. The CDKN2A (P16) gene encodes a cyclin dependent kinas inhibitor protein and functions as a cell cycle regulator. Germline mutations of CDKN2A are associated with familial melanoma, glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer.The CDKN2A gene also contains one of 27 SNPs associated with increased risk of coronary artery disease.
