What is source plasma?

This is the FDA licensed product name for plasma collected via plasmapheresis. By definition, it must be frozen at -20℃ or colder and placed at that temperature within 30 minutes. Average size is ~ 880 mls. Most common anticoagulant is 4% Sodium Citrate.

What percentage of blood is plasma?

Plasma makes up 55% of your blood’s total volume. Red blood cells follow at 44% of your blood’s volume, and a combination of white blood cells and platelets fill the remaining 1%.
